Mastering spelling the fun way
Learning to spell is far more than the memorization of lists of unrelated words. It requires a systematic process that is sequential and explicit. Research shows that the study of the spelling system is a significant contributor to students' vocabulary development. Spelling is a functional component of writing and reading due to its role in vocabulary acquisition and the word decoding skills required to become a fluent writer or reader.
Education Curb's SpellNow Series of apps deliver learning experiences that are meaningful, vibrant, fun and interactive for students in years 1-6. Targeting students in the emergent, transitional and complex stages of spelling, the SpellNow Series helps students make the spelling-meaning connection, which is necessary to become a good speller.
With 600 + exercises offered in each SpellNow Challenge app, the menu is organised into four, ten-week terms so there's enough content to cover the entire school year. The level of difficulty increases as students work through each unique spelling list. Lists are organised according to letter-sound patterns and word family groupings. These words range from frequently used words with simple spelling patterns to less frequently used words with difficult or unusual spelling patterns.
Six interactive spelling games cater to different learning styles - visual, auditory and kinesthetic. Each spelling game stimulates students' sensory skills by transporting them to a fun and vibrant environment where they interact with quirky characters. Safe and age appropriate, the SpellNow Series gamifies the learning experience so students master spelling while having fun.
